    Unreal Editor Plugin

Cloud CI/CD for Unreal Engine teams. Trigger builds, stream logs, download artifacts, and get AI-assisted error fixes without leaving the editor.

    Requirements

    • Unreal Engine 5.7
    • Host platform: Windows 64-bit, or macOS (Apple Silicon or Intel)
    • SpeedrunCI account — sign up free at app.speedrun.ci
    • Source-control connection (Git, Perforce, or Plastic SCM) — configured once in your SpeedrunCI dashboard
    • At least one pipeline configured in your SpeedrunCI dashboard before the plugin can trigger builds

The plugin is the editor-side trigger and monitor; the actual builds run on SpeedrunCI's hosted infrastructure. You do not need to host or operate any backend yourself, but you do need an account.

    Installation

    1. Install the plugin from Fab Marketplace through the Epic Games Launcher (Library → Engine Versions → Installed Plugins).
    2. Open your UE 5.7 project. If prompted to rebuild missing modules, click Yes.
    3. Open Edit → Plugins, search for "SpeedrunCI", confirm it's enabled, and restart the editor if prompted.

    First-time sign-in

    1. Open the SpeedrunCI panel: press Ctrl+Shift+K (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+K (Mac). Alternatively, go to Tools → Miscellaneous → SpeedrunCI.
    2. The onboarding wizard appears. Click Browser Sign-In.
    3. Your default browser opens to app.speedrun.ci/auth/editor-plugin. Sign in there.
    4. The browser redirects back to a local callback; the wizard auto-advances to Project Selection.
    5. Pick your organization, project, and default pipeline. Click Finish Setup.

Your editor token is stored in your operating system's secure credential store (macOS Keychain or Windows Credential Manager) — never in plaintext on disk on supported platforms.

macOS note: the editor briefly opens a local callback server on a port in the range 19847–19857 during sign-in. macOS may ask you to allow incoming network connections — click Allow. The server shuts down immediately after the sign-in completes.

    What you can do

    • Trigger a build from the toolbar button next to Play, or from the panel. Runs your team's default pipeline on the current branch.
    • Watch logs stream in real time with severity highlighting (errors, warnings) and clickable file:line references.
    • AI Recommendations — when a build fails, see AI-generated explanations and suggested fixes. Review the diff and apply locally with one click.
    • Download artifacts in 8 parallel chunks for fast retrieval of cooked PAKs, IPAs, APKs, Xbox .xvc, PS5 .pkg, etc.
    • Preflight checks flag unsaved assets, uncommitted changes, and Blueprint compile errors before triggering a build.
    • Build streaks and lightweight gamification keep your CI green.
    • Local shader compile boost (Windows only) raises ShaderCompileWorker and UnrealLightmass processes to above-normal priority while you're editing, so shader cooks and lighting builds finish faster.

    Configuration

Open Edit → Project Settings, then in the left navigation under Plugins, choose SpeedrunCI:

    • API base URL (default https://app.speedrun.ci; change only for self-hosted deployments)
    • Default organization, project, and pipeline
    • Artifact download path
    • Preferences for sounds, build streaks, shader boost, and notifications

AI Recommendations can be disabled at the organization level in your SpeedrunCI dashboard under Organization Settings → AI Providers.

    Privacy & Security

    • Editor tokens are stored in the macOS Keychain or Windows Credential Manager — never in plaintext on disk on supported platforms.
    • All API traffic uses HTTPS to app.speedrun.ci.
    • The plugin does not transmit source code, project assets, or world files. Source code reaches the build infrastructure via the source-control connection you configure separately in your SpeedrunCI dashboard.
    • The plugin opens a local HTTP server on a port in the range 19847–19857 (TCP, loopback only) only during the browser-based sign-in flow, then shuts it down.
    • See the full Privacy Policy for details on what the plugin sends and stores.

    Troubleshooting

    Toolbar button doesn't appear

Check Edit → Plugins that SpeedrunCI is enabled and restart the editor once. If the plugin is enabled and the button still doesn't appear, check the Output Log for errors filtered on "SpeedrunCI".

    Browser sign-in doesn't redirect back

Your OS firewall is most likely blocking the local callback. On macOS, open System Settings → Network → Firewall and allow Unreal Editor incoming connections. On Windows, allow Unreal Editor through Windows Defender Firewall.

    "AI Recommendations not yet available"

Your pipeline hasn't produced an AI summary for that build yet. AI summaries are generated post-build on the backend; check the SpeedrunCI dashboard for the build to confirm. The plugin will pick them up on the next refresh.

    "No projects found" during onboarding

Your account isn't a member of any organization, or no projects are set up yet. Visit app.speedrun.ci to create an organization and at least one project, then re-open the plugin panel.

    Logout / re-authenticate

In the Settings panel within the plugin, click Sign Out. This clears the keychain entry and the local credentials file. The next time you click the toolbar, you'll be prompted to sign in again via the browser.

    Anything else

Open the Output Log and filter for SpeedrunCI — the plugin logs liberally. The first warning or error usually points at the cause. If you're still stuck, email support@speedrun.ci with the relevant log excerpt.
